About this course

This course is devised and run by Senior Voice Specialist Christella Antoni, SLT, and is a two level course for SLTS wishing to gain skills for working with voice clients.

This course is suitable for:

  • SLTS interested in gaining voice skill
  • SLTs in mixed posts
  • SLTs in community settings
  • SLTs wishing to start or refresh or develop their voice skills

Course Content

Overview of:
  • Voice disorders and their presentations
  • Summary of perceptual and objective assessment
Therapy techniques and training
  • essential exercises applicable to a variety of voice disorders
  • Experiential learning / training for SLTs in the following:
  • breath and voice release
  • Semi occluded vocal tract
  • Resonance balance
  • Onset of the note
  • Task progression
  • Successful generalisation
  • Therapy outcomes

Live in-person fees

Fees inclusive of travel fees, up to 3 hours travel time within England and course materials.

Live in person - hosted by organisation

Level 1

A live course hosted by the respective organisation/ department.

The organisation can provide this training for their own team(s) of therapists and /or open this training to other depts/ organisations. The host organisation, provides the training room and is responsible for any advertising costs. A set inclusive fee is paid to Christella Antoni, Senior Voice Specialist SLT who will present the course throughout.

Christella brings her 25 years of clinical experience to voice work, together with individual attention to attendees, sharing insights into her effective approach for working with a range of voice clients. Core components are the course range from understanding diagnosis and assessment to selecting appropriate therapy and a recommended treatment protocol.

‘Seeing voices’ and ‘hearing voices’ are integrated into the day, together with experiential practice for practical skills development.
Vital Voice Levels 1 and 2 form part of Christella’s wider mission to ‘Educate, Encourage and Empower therapists in their clinical practice.

Level 2. One day course
Advancing clinical skills and practice and extending therapy exercises. Insight into simpler versus more complex cases and their management. This course takes a deeper view into a range of conditions including psychogenic voice. Further opportunities for voice rating and development of listening skills as well as Q & A sections.
